REMINDER TO MEMBERS: DOMESTIC SURPLUS LINE INSURERS
There are now fourteen1 Domestic Surplus Line Insurers that
have been granted authority under Section 445a of the
Illinois Insurance Code. They are:

Remember when you are filing policies for these companies, all regular surplus
line taxes and stamping fees still apply. Also remember, for these companies, the
Service of Suit requirement outlined in
Section 445, paragraph 10 does
not apply and, pursuant to
Section 445,
paragraph 10.5, you must use a different "Notice to Policyholder" stamp on the
declarations page (in 12 point,
boldface type) as follows:
NOTICE TO POLICYHOLDER: This
contract is issued by a domestic surplus line insurer, as defined in Section 445a,
pursuant to Section 445 and as such is not covered by the Illinois Insurance Guaranty Fund.
